Nominations are open for the 2022 SEIB Insurance Brokers Yard of the Year Awards.
These awards celebrate excellence in competition, teaching, training and horse care. In what will be the third running of these awards.
The proprietors of the short-listed yards will be invited to a prestigious awards ceremony in July 2022 where the winners will be announced.
The Awards have categories for best small riding school (20 horses and under), best large riding school (over 20 horses), best full livery yard, best do-it-yourself (DIY) livery yard, best Riding for the Disabled (RDA) riding school and in addition to these, for the first time in 2022, there is a category for competition venues.
“SEIB have insured livery yards and riding schools for decades and are proud to support the industry with these awards,” said SEIB Marketing Manager Nicolina Mackenzie.
“The inclusion of the competition venue of the year award in 2022 is something we are looking forward to. At SEIB we know that there are many yards, venues, centres and riding schools that provide an outstanding service and we want to recognise and highlight their professionalism, skill and commitment.”
The winner of the 2021 SEIB Small Riding School of the year, Tina Layton of Contessa Riding and Training Centre (pictured) said: “We were thrilled to win the SEIB Award and I also achieved the ABRS Fellowship at the end of the year.
“We are a small, niche yard with our advanced horses and vaulting club. We couldn’t have asked for a higher accolade than this recognition from the SEIB Awards and the ABRS Fellowship so, after 45 years, we decided it was the time to finish on a high. We will be closing the doors of Contessa at the end of March.”
Nominations open today (14 February) at www.seib.co.uk/yard-awards and will close at 5pm on 14 April, 2022.
Once the nominating process is closed, the panel of judges will draw up a short-list of yards. Each of these yards will be invited to forward a short video of their premises and what makes them special.
The shortlisted proprietors will be invited to the SEIB Awards in July 2022 when the winners will be announced.
The awards will be judged on competition, training, horse care, marketing and business acumen. Atmosphere in the yard and the help and support for clients will also be vital for the judging panel when it comes to choosing their winners.
The winners of each of the six categories of the Awards will be announced and have their trophy presented at the luncheon by an equestrian celebrity.
