A police horse involved in a road incident on Friday (8 July) is “in good spirits” while recovering in a specialist equine hospital. Rocky and his rider were hit by a car in Bristol and were both injured, his companion police horse Platinum and his rider were unharmed.
Rocky’s rider was taken to hospital where he was later discharged, but Rocky has remained in hospital since he was hit by the car, due to the serious nature of his injuries. Yesterday evening (12 July) the force updated the public on the five-year-old gelding’s progress.
Rocky’s rider visited him in hospital and he enjoyed a treat and some fuss.
“Today we visited Rocky in hospital and it’s fair to say he and his rider were pleased to see each other,” said a spokesman for Avon and Someset Police. “Our vets have advised that it will be around a month before we have an update on his prognosis however he is in good spirits and has got over the first hurdle.”
