An owner has shared the inspiring story of her two rescue ponies, who have come on leaps and bounds since finding their forever home and gained a growing following online. Both ponies, CRH Peanut and CRH Pixie were originally taken in by Ireland’s Cobh Rescue Horses, who have saved and rehomed more than 500 horses since being founded in 2016.
Peanut came to Oonagh O’Brien as a “feral, labelled dangerous pony” due to her attitude towards humans and had been returned from foster homes several times.

“She was continually sent back due to her attitude problems,” said Oonagh. “At 8hh, she had a lot of negative triggers and was exceptionally hard work.”
However, thanks to Oonagh’s continued efforts, the diminutive mare has gone on to thrive and is now the “most wonderful little pony”. Peanut has achieved many accolades along the way, including winning showing classes, featuring in magazines and blogs worldwide, and bring selected as an ambassador for several companies.
Pixie was very nervous when she was first rescued
Oonagh has a second prize-winning show pony , CRH Pixie, who also arrived with Oonagh in a sorry state.
“She came very shut down, having been overbred – she was very fearful of men in particular – but now although still very reserved and gentle, she is the most beautiful little pony,” Oonagh added.
