Those looking for a fun ride to remember or to enjoy a special day with their horsey friends can take part in Down Hall’s Ladies and Gentleman Hack.

The ride returns for a second year at the countryside hotel in Bishop’s Stortford. The route will take participants around the 110 acres of woodlands and grounds, with optional jumps along the way. Riders can also enjoy ‘brunch bites’ before setting off and afternoon tea upon return, plus prizes for the best turned out combinations.

The Glow Well Ladies & Gentlemen’s Hack is five miles-long and can be ridden in pairs or trios, following a marked trail. Individual riders are also welcome to enter and will be matched up with a suitable partner. Those joining are advised to ride at a ‘leisurely pace’ with opportunities for trotting and cantering.

New for this year, there will be some small optional jumps to pop. Combinations will begiven a time slot to begin the ride and there will be professional photographers in attendance. Elizabeth Ebsworth will be stationed at the start of the ride offering individual mini photo shoots outside the main house for each combination, plus other photographers will be situated along the route to capture the action.

Attendees will be offered brunch ahead of their hack with dishes curated by the hotel’s Executive Chef Robert Pearce. Riders are also able to complete the day with an English Afternoon Tea in the hotel’s newly refurbished lounge or on the terrace overlooking the gardens. The horses will also be rewarded for their hard work with carrots from the Down Hall Kitchen Garden.

Tickets for the event start at £95, which includes brunch and a mini photoshoot. Afternoon tea is an additional £40 per adult and £20 per child. Spectators are charged at £5 per person. Contact Camilla Sheeley from Glow Well to book – Camilla.Sheeley@gmail.com
