Britain’s Ben Maher is switching horses for the Paris 2024 Games and will now ride 11-year-old mare Dallas Vegas Batilly in the jumping, which will be the final equestrian sport at the Olympics.

The change from 10-year-old stallion Point Break has been attributed to the horse’s “form post travel” to Versailles in France, Team GB, in conjunction with British Equestrian and British Showjumping, announced.

The revised full British showjumping team for the Games is as follows:

  • Scott Brash with Lady Pauline Harris and Lady Pauline Kirkham’s Hello Jefferson
  • Harry Charles with Ann Thompson and his own Romeo 88
  • Ben Maher with Charlotte Rossetter, Pamela Wright and his own Dallas Vegas Batilly
  • Alternate combination: Joseph Stockdale with Joy Cocklin and Laura Stockdale’s Cacharel

The Team GB showjumping grooms are:

  • David Honnet who grooms for Scott Brash and Jefferson
  • Georgia Ellwood who grooms for Harry Charles and Romeo 88
  • Derren Lake who grooms for Ben Maher and Dallas Vegas Batilly
  • Charlotte Attwell who grooms for Joseph Stockdale and Cacharel

The jumping competition gets underway on Thursday (1 August) with the team qualifier, after the first horse inspection tomorrow (Wednesday 31 July). The team final is on Friday 2 August.

The contest for the individual medals will take place over two days beginning on Monday 5 August. Qualifiers will go through to the individual final on Tuesday 6 August. This will bring the equestrian events at the Games to a close.
