Names with a royal theme have featured highly in a survey of horse names from equestrian brand Harry Hall, confirming that the royal family remain extremely popular among the riding community.

Harry Hall asked over 15,000 members of its One Club to submit their horse’s names and subsequently compiled a list of the most popular ones.

At the top of the list was Charlie, a nod to the UK’s current monarch, King Charles III. The names of his youngest son Prince Harry and grandsons Prince George and Prince Louis also featured in the top 20, as did Megan, William and Princess.

The names Prince, Archie (Prince Harry’s son) and Henry (Prince Harry’s official name) were not far behind in the list, which featured 10,000 names.

“Giving your horse a royally connected name is a popular choice and it’s fantastic to see that the original equestrians are still honoured,” said Liz Hopper, managing director of Harry Hall.

“Short and concise names are also top choices from UK horse owners. It is a great way to avoid confusion with other words and phrases.”

Harry Hall is the equestrian tailor to Buckingham Palace.

“Your horse is an individual, so taking the time to learn their personality can help to guide your name choice,” continued Liz.

“We’re also thrilled to see ‘Harry’ rank so highly, named partly after the prince and of course our founder: Harry Hall.”
