The third of Spillers’ four free winter nutrition webinars will be on the subject of caring for the senior horse.
The webinar, which will take place on Thursday 16 January, will be led by Professor Pat Harris, one of the world’s leading authorities on equine nutrition, and Sarah Nelson, Spillers nutritionist and product manager.
Pat is the director of science for Mars Horsecare and the head of the WALTHAM Equine Studies Group. Her work has focused on senior horse nutrition, obesity, laminitis and digestive health, and she has published over 500 scientific papers.
Sarah oversees the technical management of all Mars Horsecare feeds, including recipe formulation and works closely with leading scientists to ensure Spillers products are backed by the latest research and meet the highest standards of equine nutrition.
During the webinar, Pat and Sarah will discuss the latest research in senior horse care and offer practical advice, feeding guidance and management solutions.
Raft of experience
“Whether you’re facing specific challenges or simply want to improve your understanding of senior horse care, Pat and Sarah’s advice and practical tips will leave you feeling confident and empowered,” said Claire Dyett, marketing manager at Mars Horsecare, home of the Spillers brand.
“What makes Pat truly remarkable, is her personal connection to senior horses. Over the past decade, she has spent much of her free time caring for ageing horses, gaining hands-on experience that complements her scientific expertise.”
Animal Medicines Training Regulatory Authority (AMTRA) members who attend this webinar will receive five CPD points for their professional development. All attendees will have the opportunity to undertake a quiz and will receive a certificate upon completion of the webinars.
The fourth and final webinar of the series which is entitled Spring into action: Effective strategies to help your horse shed the pounds, will take place on Thursday 27 February.
Isabel Harker, Spillers nutrition advisor and Nicky Jarvis, head of veterinary and care at Redwings Horse Sanctuary, will lead the discussion.
Last year’s series of Spillers webinars proved popular with 83% of respondents rating the nutritionist’s knowledge of the topic as excellent and nearly all saying they would recommend the webinar they attended to a friend.
