A bar has just been launched, giving people the chance to buy a pint (or a Prosecco or two) from inside a horsebox.
Called The Hop and Hoof, the new bar is the brainchild of four friends – David, Craig, Paul and Emma – who came up with the idea of having a bar in a horse box while they were on holiday in 2016.
They wanted to launch a bar with a twist that could be used for weddings and other events.
After finding an old horse box, the four friends decided to take the plunge and go into business.
Costing £600, the old horsebox needed to be renovated, starting a three-month long project.
After stripping the horsebox back, treating it to a new floor, installing electrics and making it weather-proof, The Hop and Hoof team were able to install fridges, a draught pump and a bar area, as well as feature lighting and hand-washing facilities.
The bar features lagers, ciders, real ale, spirits, wine, prosecco and soft drinks.
The team then decided to transform the horse ramp at the rear of the horse box into an extendable bar area, which can even be transformed into a gin or prosecco bar.
So far, The Hop and Hoof has attended the Ilkeston Food and Drink Fayre at Risley Hall and the Nutall Food, Drink and Craft Fayre and has a series of weddings and festivals lined up for 2017.
Speaking about the launch of their business, the team said: “After returning from holiday we scoured the local and national selling pages in search of our horse box, and there we found on the outskirts of Stoke, a rusty, old, sorry, neglected horse box sitting in a field, and we thought, that’s the one!”
You can catch the Hop and Hoof team at their next event at the Foodie Fest at Southwell Racecourse on 17-18 June.
