Following a hugely successful first year the SEIB Insurance Brokers Search for a Star Mountain and Moorland Championship will once again be held at Your Horse Live, at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire on the 8 November 2019.
SEIB marketing manager Nicolina Mackenzie said: “We are truly delighted to be able to give amateur M and M enthusiasts the opportunity to compete for a national showing title. Search for a Star is now in its 23rd year and we are continually looking at ways to include more riders in the series and help them achieve their dreams.”
Emma Bedford, equine event director at Your Horse Live said: “We are excited to welcome back the SEIB Search for a Star Mountain and Moorland Championships at Your Horse Live. The launch last year was a great success for both the competitors and visitors. Search for a Star is a great addition to the Your Horse Live line-up and we look forward to welcoming the competition back this year.”
The SEIB Search for a Star Mountain and Moorland Championship is open to pure-bred Mountain and Moorland ponies ridden by amateur riders. At each qualifier, two large breed and two small breed ponies will qualify for the Championship. Competitors that competed in the SEIB Search for a Star Mountain and Moorland Your Horse Live Championship in 2018 are welcome to take part in the series in 2019. Previous winners of the Championship will not be able to compete in the competition again, and horses and ponies that have been to HOYS will also not be permitted to compete.
Both the qualifying classes and the SEIB Mountain and Moorland Championship will be judged 50% on conformation and 50% on performance.
2018 judge Mathew Lawrence, said: “I had a great time judging the final of the Search for a Star Mountain and Moorland final last year. What a very special competition it is for amateur Mountain and Moorland competitors and their fantastic ponies. The venue for the final rivals the NEC, with every competitor getting their time to shine.”
Nicolina added: “I would also like to say a personal thank you to all the competitors that took part last year. They were true trailblazers and we can now build on their legacy.”
The qualifiers for the 2019 SEIB Mountain and Moorland Championship Search for a Star series will be held at:
14th April – Osbaldeston Riding Centre, Blackburn, Lancashire BB2 7LZ
19th May – Stretcholt Equestrian Centre, Bridgwater, Somerset TA6 4SR
9th June – Bury Farm Equestrian Club, Leighton Buzzard, Buckinghamshire LU7 9BT
7th July – Greenlands Equestrian Centre, Carlisle, Cumbria CA4 0RR
11th August – Arena UK, Grantham, Lincolnshire NG32 2EF
