Unclipped horses who are stabled overnight will normally be warm enough without wearing a stable rug, as their shelter and hay will help to keep them comfortable. However, if your horse is clipped they may need a stable rug. There are different weights available which relate to the degree of warmth they offer. Which is best for your horse will depend on whether or not they are clipped, their weight and age, and the temperature.
