International equine welfare charity Brooke received the People’s Choice Film of the Year award last week at the Smiley Charity Film Awards (21 March).
Brooke joined dozens of charity organisations at the ODEON Luxe in Leicester Square, London, for the sixth annual Charity Film Awards, which has helped more than 2,500 causes gain exposure, donations and volunteers.
Brooke’s short film “Unbreakable Bonds” triumphed as the People’s Choice Film of the Year 2023. The film spotlighted Brooke’s mission to strengthen the relationship between communities and their horses, donkeys and mules, championing compassion and building better futures for animals.
“We put a lot of thought and planning into making this film an authentic portrayal of what Brooke does, the animals we help and the owners we work with,” said Jamie Whear, Interim Head of Comms at Brook. “To win an award chosen via public vote was extremely heart-warming because it shows that we’ve got the message across, and that our supporters are incredibly dedicated. Huge thanks to everyone who voted for us!”
The award was presented by celebrity brothers AJ and Curtis Prichard, and received by Jamie and Kylie Thurley, Senior Social Engagement and Content Officer, who represented Brooke at the ceremony.
The awards, sponsored by Smiley Movement, are recognised by both the British Film Institute and IMDb.
