Working animal charity Brooke won the People’s Choice Award for its film Brooke at 90 at the 2025 Smiley Charity Film Awards which took place in London last week.
Brooke at 90, which is voiced by Ted Lasso actress Annette Badland, uses archival and present-day footage to explore the charity’s 90-year history of improving the lives of working animals.
The short film was a gold award winner in the People’s Choice Award in the £15-50 million category at the ceremony which took place at Indigo at the O2 on Thursday 20 March. The award was decided by a public vote.
“I am immensely proud to support Brooke, a charity that impacts the lives of millions of working equines in communities where they are needed most,” said Annette.
“It is truly an honour to be part of this award-winning film – a remarkable story of hope.
“Reading the script moved me deeply, and I am delighted that it has touched so many others, as reflected in the response of the voters.”
