Riders can transport themselves to the ultimate hacking adventure thanks to a new book detailing an epic trek through The Cairngorms, a mountain range in the eastern Highlands of Scotland.
From great climbs to navigating through glens and around lochs, long-distance rider Claire Alldritt’s latest adventure promises to inspire, detailing the highs and lows of her challenging trip.
A Cairngorm Loop on the Hoof is Claire’s second book, having previously published From East to West by Saddle is Best. Claire regularly travels through the Scottish Highlands using a method she likes to call ‘dobbineering’. Together with her two horses Yogi and Swift, she explores the tough and remote land as self-sufficiently as possible, wild camping along the way.
Paramedic Claire featured in Your Horse last year after completing the #Hack1000Miles challenge in one go, and has been taking her horses – part bred Highland Yogi and part bred Appaloosa Swift – on adventures for more than a decade. Claire rides one horse and uses the other to carry everything required for the trip, from food supplies to tents.
