Friends and family of late event rider Danni Meehan have raised thousands of pounds for The Air Ambulance Service by completing an 80km bike ride in her honour.
The group took part in the Cycle Derby Spring Sportive on 10 April, what would have been Danni’s 33rd birthday.
Dozens of cyclists of all abilities took part as team ‘Ride High Danni’, adding to the tens of thousands of pounds that have been raised for the charity in Danni’s memory.
Earlier this month (3 April), a charity pub quiz was held in Bondi Beach, Australia for the cause. Organised by Laura Amy Kent, AUD $2,885 was raised, and further AUD $2,000 went directly to The Air Ambulance Service.
“Danni was simply one of the loveliest people you’d ever meet,” said Danni’s father, Sean Meehan. “Hugely talented, hard working, focused, brave, modest, humble and so kind and supportive to everyone around her. It was always a joy to watch the amazing partnership between Danni and her horse, Lily.
“She achieved so much, lived life to the full and made her family and friends so proud. Danni tragically lost her life in a riding accident on 14th July 2021 doing what she loved. She will be hugely missed by us all.”
