Police are appealing for information after four horses were found roaming on the road earlier this week (Monday, 7 February).

The horses, who were wearing no tack or rugs, were discovered by motorists on Monday night near Downe Hospital in Downpatrick, County Down.

Police were notified by concerned members of the public, and after securing the roads around the hospital, they herded the animals into a nearby field on Ardglass road.

They are now appealing for their owner to come forward or for information from the public. Officers shared an image of the horses on social media, and the group oes can be seen lit by street lights.

“In-between calls for service we found four horses wandering near the Downe Hospital,” said a spokesman for Newry, Mourne and Down Police. “If you know who owns them they were ushered into a nearby field on the Ardglass Road.”
