The draw for the first two days of equestrian dressage at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the Grand Prix, running from tomorrow (Tuesday 30 – Wednesday 31 July) has been released.
For Great Britain, Carl Hester will go first, starting his test at 11.25pm tomorrow (BST) with Fame. Becky Moody and Jagerbomb follow later that day at 3.11pm (BST). Reigning individual World Champion, Charlotte Fry will enter the ring Glamourdale on day two (Wednesday) at 9am (BST).
Germany, the reigning team champions, start at 12.09pm (BST) tomorrow with Frederic Wandres, followed by Isabell Werth and Tokyo 2020 individual gold-medallist Jessica von Bredow-Werndl on Wednesday at 10.25am (BST) and 2.20pm (BST) respectively.
The Grand Prix is the individual and team qualifier and there will be 30 starters on each day. The qualification ranking for the team competition will be decided by the combined results of all three team members in the Grand Prix.
Riders compete in six groups, with three groups competing on each day. The composition of the groups is based on the FEI World Ranking list position of the horse on the date of definite entries.
The Grand Prix Special will take place on Saturday (3 August) and is the team final. The Grand Prix Freestyle follows on Sunday (4 August) and is the final for the individual placings.
First inspection
The dressage horses came before the Paris 2024 Ground Jury yesterday morning (28 July). A total of 75 horses, including alternates, from 30 countries stepped out at the first inspection.
Returning for re-inspection tomorrow morning (30 July) at 8am local time will be Love Me, Poland’s Zaneta Skowronska-Kozubik’s ride, Amplemento, who partners Austria’s Christian Schumach, and Malagueno LXXXIII, who is ridden by Spain’s Jose Daniel Martin Dockx.
A total of 15 teams and 15 individual competitors are set to compete.
