The first day of dressage at Defender Burghley kicked off today (Thursday 5 September) and eventing fans around the world will be keen to follow along with the action as it unfolds across the competition.

Tickets are still on sale for the last British CCI5* of the year and you can buy online or on the gate. If you can’t attend in person there is only one way to watch it all — via Burghley TV.

A two-hour highlights programme will also be shown on BBC Two at 2pm on Sunday 8 September.

An annual subscription to Burghley TV costs £20 and all of the eventing action, including the horse inspections and final prize giving, will be shown.

Viewers will also be able to watch an exclusive preview of the cross-country course, which is designed by the USA’s Derek di Grazia, and rider interviews. TV presenter Nick Luck will host an entertaining and informative daily magazine programme every day, alongside roving reporter Rosie Tapner.

As well as the eventing, the Dubarry Burghley Young Event Horse Final will be livestreamed. So too will some of the main arena demonstrations, including a masterclass from British Dressage hero Carl Hester and Cheltenham Gold Cup winning trainer Henrietta Knight, who will discuss ‘Re-educating the Racehorse’.

Other demos include William and Pippa Funnell’s ‘Showjumping — working in harmony’ while the SEIB Racehorse to Riding Horse class, which is a qualifier for Horse of the Year Show, will take place on Sunday morning.

Burghley TV offers a replay service, which means subscribers can watch the action again. There is also a comprehensive library of historic Burghley footage, stretching back to 1990.
