A Lake District farm is offering the perfect getaway for equestrians.

Green Bank Farm in Cartmel offers luxury ‘stable stays’ where guests snuggle up in a bunk bed right next to the stable of a Friesian horse or Shetland pony, JB.

The self-catering accommodation features a see-through room divider so residents can wake up and admire their equine neighbour, and an open top bunk for treat-feeding and round the clock pats.

Guests are treated to luxury bedding and toiletries and the use of a mini kitchen, with fridge electric hobs, utensils and a microwave. Stable rooms also have an en-suite wet room with shower and eco toilet.

Their horsey neighbour enjoys a spacious stable, and pre-prepared breakfast and dinner feeds for residents to serve up, and luxury grooming kit for bonding time.

“For the die-hard horse lover we bring you the unique opportunity to make those childhood dreams come true,” said a spokesman for Green Bank Farm.

“The Friesian Sleepover may just be the best sleepover ever and the first of its kind in the UK and possibly the world.

“For horse lovers of any age, spend time with one of our beautiful Friesian horses and share a self-catering stable for the night.”

The farm is home to more than a dozen Friesians including youngstock, broodmares, riding and dressage horses, as well as those used for carriage driving.

Those looking for further horsey fun can sign up to a ‘Friesian experience day’ which involves getting to know the horses on the ground, grooming and bathing and leading out.

Experienced riders can also enjoy lessons or beach hacks on the horses, with prior arrangement, as well as opportunities for equestrians of all levels of experience to try carriage driving.

Prices for a stable stay start at £250 per night and include accommodation and an equine companion.
