Many businesses are facing challenging times due to the pandemic, and livery yards and riding schools are sadly no exception.
To help support this valuable industry, UK livery yard directory LiveryList is providing two not-for-profit schemes.
Its Yard Owner Hub will now be complemented by a new educational resource – Yard Owner Learning Sessions – to help yard owners enhance their businesses.
The online sessions can be accessed via Zoom and cover varying topics, such as essential paperwork, livery contracts, mental health for yard owners and marketing.
Held twice monthly, the informal and interactive conversations are supplemented with relevant support and resources., and are free for LiveryList advertisers and ABRS certified or approved riding schools or livery yards.
A £5 contribution is required for others wishing to attend.
“With uncertainty still on the horizon, many yard owners can take this time to review and reflect on the way they run their yards,” said Cheryl Johns, founder of LiveryList.
“In what can be an undervalued industry where there is no licensing or monitoring, and no dedicated industry association, anyone can open a yard regardless of competency or experience.
“It is therefore important to educate yard owners and future yard owners, as well as horse owners, to what would be deemed the ‘best practice’ expected from the administrative and practical management of yards.”
Full details on forthcoming sessions can be found here.
The Yard Owner Hub offers free guidance, information, and templates to yard owners, with all documentation kept up to date and checked for accuracy with the relevant professionals.
