Are you considering rehoming a rescue horse or pony? Your Horse will be highlighting a few of the wonderful equines seeking new homes every few weeks, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled if you’re searching for your next four-legged friend.
This month we feature four marvellous mares seeking Guardian homes after being rescued and rehabilitated by Redwings Horse Sanctuary. They include two companions and two unbacked project horses, and Guardianship can all be applied for via the rehoming section of the charity’s website.
The following horses and ponies are looking for their forever homes:
Lara: A stunning, sweet-natured companion
Lara is a 14.2hh, eight-year-old, sweet-natured Standardbred mare looking for a home as a non-ridden companion.
“She was rescued as a youngster, severely underweight and with substantial parasite infections,” said a Redwings spokesman. “Now, this stunning girl is good to catch, lead and groom and stands nicely for routine care. She can be a little unsure of new surroundings so is looking for a kind and patient Guardian, who will embrace her loving nature with lots of fuss!”
Lindisfarne: A keen-to-please project mare
Lindisfarne is a 12.2hh, four-year-old cob cross mare looking for a home as an unbacked project.
“Lindisfarne is very sweet-natured and keen to please her handler,” said a Redwings spokesman. “She has been introduced to novel objects and in-hand pole work at Redwings and is now looking for a calm and confident Guardian to continue her education to be a ridden horse.”
Tilly: A kind and beautiful companion
Tilly is a beautiful 14.2hh, 10-year-old cob cross mare looking for a home as a non-ridden companion.
“Tilly is a kind mare who enjoys a groom and is looking for a Guardian who has time to spend with her regularly,” said a Redwings spokesman. “She can live with mares and geldings and could be left alone when her companion was ridden, as long as this was introduced gradually in her new home.”
Haiti: A confident potential all-rounder
Haiti, a 11.2hh four-year-old cob, is a confident mare ready to find a home as an unbacked project.
“In her time at Redwings she has not been phased by much and enjoys her novel object training, including umbrellas!” said a charity spokesman. “She is good to handle and will stand nicely for any routine care. With time and an experienced Guardian continuing her training, Haiti could make a wonderful all-rounder.”
