This month’s rehoming round-up features four special horses and ponies searching for a new life. If you’re looking for a new equine companion, once of these animals could be the perfect match.

The horses are currently in Redwings Horse Sanctuary’s care after being rescued by the charity and Guardianship can be applied for via their website.

Drummer

Drummer (pictured right and top) is a 14.2hh nine-year-old Trotter cross. He was rescued in 2015 from “appalling” neglect and was severely underweight.

He is sociable with other horses and can live with both mares and geldings. He is also happy to be stabled if required.

“He is a sweet and friendly boy who will thrive with one-to-one attention where his affectionate nature will shine through,” said a Redwings spokesman.

Drummer has conformation issues which mean he is most suited to life as a non-ridden companion.

Beth

Beth is a 12.1hh, five-year-old mare looking for a home as a non-ridden companion.

Staff say she is good to catch, groom and lead and his “a pleasure to care for”. Beth is good with other horses and ponies making her an ideal non-ridden companion pony.

“With her calm nature it is possible that she could be left alone if her field companion was taken out for a ride for short periods of time, although it is advised that this is done gradually in her new home,” said a Redwings spokesman.

Emmett

Emmett is a 15hh eight-year-old Cob looking for a home as a non-ridden companion horse.

“He is a friendly and sociable chap who loves nothing more than a good scratch – and he pulls some excellent ‘scratchy faces’ to show his appreciation!” said a Redwings spokesman.

“He is good to catch, groom and lead and for all his routine care. He is good with other horses but tends to be the boss of his herd.

“He can also become a bit worried in new environments so is looking for an experienced Guardian who could provide reassurance as he settles into his new home.”

Tilly

Tilly is a 14.2hh, 10-year-old mare looking for a home as a non-ridden companion. She was featured in last month’s round-up but is still looking for the perfect new home.

“Tilly is a kind mare who enjoys a groom and is looking for a Guardian who has time to spend with her regularly,” said a Redwings spokesman.

“She can live with mares and geldings and could be left alone when her companion was ridden, as long as this was introduced gradually in her new home.”
