Five-star eventer Simon Grieve is joining the exciting lineup for the Horses Inside Out Evening Extravaganza on Thursday (23 May) at Hartpury.
Together with his three-star horse, Autograf, Simon will demonstrate skeletal and muscular anatomy while jumping. The unique opportunity will allow equestrians to learn more about applied anatomy and techniques and exercises for improving training, longevity, and performance.
Olympic Dressage rider, Laura Tomlinson, will ride alongside Simon, and the event will be presented by world leading equine anatomy educator Gillian Higgins.
“Having known Gillian for over 20 years and being a big fan of her work, I am thrilled to be taking part in this lecture demonstration,” said Simon. “A good understanding of anatomy and biomechanics is one of the largest foundations for good training, longevity, and performance. This is something I try to apply daily in my own riding, but you never stop learning.
“I’m really excited to help illustrate to everyone Gillian’s ethos in the gymnastic jumping section of the evening.”
As a rider, Simon has competed regularly at the top level in eventing for the past 15 years. He has contested 18 five-star events including Burghley, Badminton and Pau, and has won just shy of 100 national events. Simon also competes internationally in showjumping and is a consistent winner at 1.40m level nationally. He juggles his riding with teaching and is a BECC level 3 coach, helping riders from grassroots up to Advanced level.
