The finalists have been announced and voting has opened for two of the 2025 Retraining of Racehorses (RoR) awards.
The Sir Peter O’Sullevan Charitable Trust RoR Community Impact Award and The Jockey Club RoR Horse of the Year Award are both decided by a public vote through an online voting system.
A judging panel made up of industry experts whittled down the nominations, which came in from members of the racing and equestrian communities, to three finalists for the Sir Peter O’Sullevan Charitable Trust RoR Community Impact Award and four finalists for the The Jockey Club RoR Horse of the Year Award.
The Sir Peter O’Sullevan Charitable Trust RoR Community Impact Award seeks to recognise any individual, former racehorse partnership, or organisation that has made a significant contribution to the lives of people through their work with a former racehorse.

The Jockey Club RoR Horse of the Year Award acknowledges former racehorses who have excelled in their new roles following their racing careers.

“The outstanding nominations we received made selecting finalists a tough task for our judges.
“Each story underscores the incredible versatility of former racehorses as they transition into new careers, as well as the unwavering dedication to their care and wellbeing shown by those committed to aftercare.”
Established in 2000, RoR is British Horseracing’s official charity for the welfare of horses who have retired from racing.
Voting is open until 5pm on Friday 10 January and the winners will be announced during a ceremony on Festival Trials Day at Cheltenham Racecourse on Saturday 25 January.
