The British Dressage (BD) Senior Home International saw 37 teams from across England, Wales, Ireland and Scotland take part in the competition at Sheepgate Equestrian Centre, Lincolnshire (30 September – 2 October).
BD Wales sent three teams to the event where the Wales’ Super Furry Animals team excelled to finish in fourth place. The Stereophonics team also did well to finish eleventh, while Manic Street Preachers unfortunately finished down the order.
Welsh rider Brendan Tegg, had the highest individual place, finishing second in the Medium Championship (69.80% and 68.65%). Emily Galtry and Just Mica of the Stereophonics team finished sixth overall in the Novice Individual Championship (69.46% and 70.00%) with Amy Pett in eleventh. Emily’s team mate Darcus Lever was sixth in the Advanced Medium Individual Championship on board Negradite (65.18% and 63.16%) while Jason Davies took ninth place in the Elementary Individual Championship.
A few days before at Beacons Equestrian centre (24 – 25 September) there were celebrations all round for the Pembrokeshire Lunachicks who headed the Team Quest regional qualifiers. The team of Gracie-Lou Randles on Sligo Golden Wonder, Charlie Hunt riding Isaura Van’t Ceusterhof, Daniella Sibbald on Master Rockafella and Rose Sinclair-James riding Martletwy Welsh Comet all achieved plus-70% scores to finish well ahead of their rivals and now go forward to the final which will be at Bury Farm EC (28 – 30 October).
