Owners of veteran show horses have an exciting new competition opportunity this year.
SEIB Search for a Star has launched the Search for a Star Open Veteran Championship for 2022, with five qualifiers culminating in a finale at Your Horse Live in November.
The championship is open to any horse or pony over 16 years old with any rider. It was trialled at the end of the 2021 season and owing to its popularity is all set to run in full this year.
It is the very first Search for a Star class that has no amateur restrictions on the horses, ponies and riders taking part.
“We have set up this exciting new Search for a Star championship to celebrate some of our very top horses in their later years,” said SEIB Marketing Manager, Nicolina MacKenzie.
“It will be a real treat to see the ‘golden oldies’ perform at Your Horse Live in November. Older horses that have previously excelled in other disciplines will be very welcome to take part.”
Search for a Star first took place in 1996 and has provided thousands of opportunities for amateur riders to compete at championship shows.
Qualifying classes for the veteran championship will be held at each of the five Search for a Star qualifiers across the country from April through to August. Horses will be required to gallop and make-up and show products are permitted.
