Mountain Horse Darcy Tech Tights
I was sceptical about riding tights when they first came out, but now I live and breathe in them. Even when I’m not riding, I find them so comfy to wear that I often sport them while working at my computer and doing chores round the house. I’ve even worn them on the school run. These Darcy Tech Tights from Mountain Horse are a great example of a decent pair of riding tights, and have been gracing my riding wardrobe for about five months now.
First impressions

I’m a bit obsessed with navy and these are a lovely shade of shiny blue with even shinier silicone patches on the inside of the legs, so it was a good start.
Fit
I was a bit worried they’d be too short when I held them up – I’m 5ft9 and usually wear a 34in leg length, but once on, the stretchy fabric meant they were plenty long enough and very comfortable. They’re silky smooth to touch and lightweight with a comfortable waistband that features a draw string which can be tightened should they go a bit baggy round the waist. They looked very flattering on and felt as comfortable as the other riding tights I own. I’m a size 8/10 in trousers, so went for the 38 and being so stretchy, they fit like a glove.
Performance
I wore these tights while riding mostly, but also while at home, walking the dog and carrying out domestic chores, as well as while doing the school run and even when popping to the shops. To ride in, they are very lightweight and stretchy so you can move easily and freely in them. The silicone patches help offer that extra bit of grip in the saddle although they can still be a bit slippery under the seat as there are no silicone patches on that bit.
I’ve worn them in hot weather and they were breathable and cool, and also during wet spells when it’s raining. Although my legs did get wet, they didn’t take long to dry due to being so lightweight and breathable.
The thigh pockets are so useful, especially when you want to grab your phone quickly while riding.
They wash brilliantly and dry quickly, and always come up looking brand new.
They’re a brilliant all-round riding tight, that does exactly what it says on the tin.
Value for money
They’re great value for money. I’ve worn them so much over the last few months and they still look like new. They can be washed and washed, and still look like they’ve just come out of the packaging.
