Mountain Horse Dynamic Hybrid Jacket
Hybrid jackets are all the rage at the moment, but I hadn’t found one that I liked the look of or that wasn’t a small fortune to buy, so I was very happy to try the Dynamic Hybrid jacket as looked great and was a good price.
First impressions
I liked the look of this jacket the moment I saw it. It’s smart yet technical, and stylish enough to wear on the yard and around town – both of which I have gladly done. I got this jacket at the end of spring and it’s proved to be an ideal extra layer on those slightly chillier days, but also cool enough on the warmer sunnier days. A perfect allrounder.
Fit
I’m quite long in the body (5ft9) and usually an 8-10 in jackets, so I wasn’t sure which size to go for. I opted for the small and it was the right choice. It’s the perfect fit in the body and a great length in the arms – something I often struggle with.
Performance
I’ve worn this jacket a lot – on the yard while riding and doing chores, as well as when popping into town and doing the school run. It’s not at all restrictive so you can really move around freely while wearing it. It’s also really stretchy.
It has reflective piping so you are seen by other road users should you decided to walk the dog or hack when the light is low or starting to fade. The stretchy cuffs are a nice touch and the thumb holes, although not my cup of tea, are an added comfort for those who use them.
The front and back body are windproof and water repellent and saved me from getting soaked through when we got caught in a downpour while out hacking. I was pleasantly surprised at how dry I stayed, despite the rain. It’s been through the wash a few times and come out looking like new. It dries pretty quick too.
The only slight snag is that the lining often gets caught in the zip which can make it a bit fiddly to do up, but I’ve got the hang of keeping the lining out of the way now.
The zip up pockets are a great touch and stop your phone and keys falling out when you bend down to pick up feet.
Value for money
At £89, it’s about mid-range compared to other brands. Under £100 feels more affordable somehow, and it is just as good quality as the more expensive ones, and absolutely worth the money. I would definitely recommend it.
