Olympic team silver medallist and former Burghley, Badminton and Kentucky CCI5* winner Lucinda Fredericks is teaming up with her daughter Ellie — one of the most exciting up-and-coming young event riders in the country — for a demo at this year’s Your Horse Live (8-10 November).

The mother-and-daughter duo will be sharing their advice, tips and exercises for cross-country training at home in your arena or field. They will be in the SEIB main arena on Friday, which is set to be a brilliant afternoon of Dodson & Horrell masterclasses.

This is a brilliant opportunity to gain insight into the techniques they use that have earned consistent results at the highest levels of eventing over the years, and how to apply them to your own horses, whatever level you ride at and whatever your ambitions are.

About Lucinda Fredericks

Lucinda is perhaps best known for her wonderful partnership with the gutsy little chestnut mare Headley Britannia (‘Brit’).

Together they are triple CCI5* winners, having triumphed at Badminton in 2007, Burghley in 2006, and Kentucky in 2009.

They also claimed team silver at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

Brit’s legacy lives on through her breeding dynasty, with the mare’s son Britannia’s Mail available for breeding services. He is also evented by Lucinda’s daughter, Ellie at four-star level.

Lucinda retired from competitive riding in 2017 due to a knee injury and is now widely acclaimed for her teaching and training of horses and riders. She enjoys sharing her wealth of knowledge and experience to support and develop riders and horses at all levels.

As well as supporting Ellie, regular clients and her team of working pupils at home, Lucinda frequently travels to teach clinics in Ireland and all over England.

She enjoyed judging at Dublin Horse Show and has also become a prominent equestrian personality on-screen, with the Team Fredericks series on Horse and Country TV in the past and, more recently, the highly acclaimed Grassroots Gazette Rider Academy series.

Based in Wiltshire at her own yard, Lucinda offers training, livery and breeding services from her magnificent stallion Britannia’s Mail.

About Ellie Fredericks

Although she is only 21, Ellie Fredericks already has an impressive eventing under her belt, including her first four-star in 2023 riding her mother’s illustrious stallion Britannia’s Mail.

Ellie represented Great Britain at the 2023 Young Rider European Championships in Italy and has been a member of the under 21 British Eventing Youth Development Squad for two years.

She also has numerous placings at advanced level, as well as wins and placings from BE100 all the way up to three-star, including with the pony stallion Britannia’s Bijou.

Ellie campaigns young horses as well as those who are more established, including her project Legende P, who was a nominated entry for the Young Rider European Championships this year and was recently sold to an Olympic rider.

Ellie produces all the horses herself and has had a busy 2024 season, predominantly with young horses. She has enjoyed bringing homebred twins Upsi Britannia and Upper Class Brit up through the levels to successfully end the season with consistent results at two-star level.

She has also taken the ride on two six-year-olds owned by Sally Brooks — Diarado’s Daughter and Britannia’s Olive — and both mares have risen up the ranks from BE100 to two-star level this season.

We should also mention that Ellie has pulled all this off while studying for a degree in philosophy at Cardiff University. She’s a busy girl!

Your Horse Live demo

Lucinda and Ellie will appear in the SEIB main arena on Friday 8 November. The afternoon will be filled with masterclasses from Dodson & Horrell riders, with dressage star Richard Davison and his son Joe, as well as Ben Atkinson, also confirmed.

The SEIB Search for a Star championships will take place on Friday morning.

On Saturday and Sunday, the line up includes Laura Collett, Ros Canter and Nicola Wilson, plus dressage with a twist — unconventional breeds such as a Clydesdale, Fell and Knapstrupper showing this discipline is suitable for all — and Oliver Townend and Geoff Billington.

There is a packed line up for the How To Yard and H&C TV Stage too.
